Ran to 2700S coming back along Foothill, to the Shoreline trail to Red Butte Gardens, through Research Park to Sunnyside then around Liberty Park. Felt better at the end of the run than at the beginning, 7:10 pace overall, aroubd 6:50 pace for the non-mountain sections.

Didn't run in the morning because my PI wanted to talk to me, and well you don't pass up those opportunities. So I ran 8.5 in the afternoon then did 3.5 going home.

Did a hard 10 (actually 9.7) starting from the university. I believe this was the fastest I've ever done this route (57:07). I hit 3 miles in 16:55 (5:38 pace, down hill). I then did the next 1.85 miles in 11:20 (6:07) but that was up a hill. Then I did the next 2.9 in 17:59 (6:12 pace) and this was still going uphill. Finally, the last 1.95 was in 10:51 (5:33 pace, downhill). So the average was 5:53 for the whole thing.

Ran 7 in the morning, but didn't feel very good, got a little better as it went on. In the evening played frisbee for maybe the last time this year (time change) then ran home.

Just a nice easy recovery day. I felt sore but my legs were feeling good.

Ran 5.5 in the morning. Then ran 5 in the evening. Not ideal but it's the day before a race and my schedule kind of dictates it. Besides, I'm beginning to think that if you're training for 5-10K, then two 5-7 mile runs in one day is beneficial as you can keep the pace up without trashing yourself.

Well, I wasn't really sure what to expect from this race. I gmap'd the course and it was a legit 5K so I took that to mean the organizers knew what they were doing. Still, I had no idea what kind of competition there would be. So I showed up and there seemed to be a bunch of serious looking runners (alot of Wasatch back shirts, which is what I raced in). The thing is that when I'm clicking on all cylinders the only people who can stop me in SLC are Adam, Chad, Aleksander, Grant Rotunda, BJ, etc. So even though these guys were in shape, there's no way there going to hang with me running the first mile in about 5:15. So basically I was on my own after 100m and completely out of sight by about 1000m in. I felt like I was working pretty hard. The race was at the U and I can usually tell the difference between the altitude there and at my house. But as the race finished I realized I had a ton left in the tank, which was a shame. Anyway, I hope this really represents a massive gain in fitness and not me just peaking out too soon.

Did 5.5 in the afternoon.
